Moving With Your Business

Optimize receiving, warehousing, and shipping with SAP EWM and Logistics Management on S/4HANA.

Warehouse Management That Moves With Your Business

From receiving to shipping, CONSILIO helps US manufacturers and distributors run leaner, faster, more transparent warehouses on SAP, with Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and Logistics Management (LGM) on S/4HANA and public cloud ERP.

Your warehouse is where supply chain promises are kept or broken. CONSILIO brings the SAP logistics depth our European teams are known for to US operations, combining proven process know-how with modern, AI-ready SAP technology so your warehouse becomes a competitive advantage rather than a cost center.

What we solve

  • Stock inaccuracy and manual counts
  • Slow or error-prone picking, packing, and shipping
  • Poor visibility across receiving, storage, and outbound
  • Disconnected systems between the warehouse and production
  • The looming move off legacy SAP WM and Stock Room Management onto EWM or Logistics Management (LGM)

Our SAP warehouse capabilities

  • SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), embedded and decentralized
  • Logistics Management (LGM) with lean PP integration on public cloud ERP; CONSILIO has a way forward ahead of the Q4 2026 general availability
  • Migration off legacy SAP WM and Stock Room Management to EWM or LGM, with a decision tree by volume and complexity: LGM for levels 1 to 3, EWM for levels 4 to 5
  • Warehouse process design: putaway, slotting, wave/pick optimization, packing, yard
  • Integration with PP/DS and ATP/aATP
  • Data, automation, and AI readiness for forecasting and anomaly detection

The implementation of SAP EWM presented us with significant challenges due to the parallel projects and complex requirements. Consilio provided us with expert and reliable support throughout this demanding phase, which contributed significantly to the project’s success.

Why it matters to you

  • One SAP partner who understands warehouse, production, and finance together
  • A clear, low-risk path off legacy WM and Stock Room Management to EWM or Logistics Management, matched to your volume and complexity, before SAP’s timeline forces the issue
  • US-based delivery backed by CONSILIO’s global SAP logistics experience

The S/4HANA angle

Neither classic SAP WM nor Stock Room Management is the long-term path on S/4HANA; the direction is EWM and Logistics Management (LGM), increasingly on public cloud ERP. We help you choose EWM or LGM by volume and complexity and plan the move deliberately, often as a co-mingled supply-chain opportunity rather than a standalone migration under deadline pressure.

FAQ

What is SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)?

SAP’s advanced warehouse solution for managing receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping in detail. It supports complex processes such as wave picking, slotting, labor management, and automation, and runs either embedded in S/4HANA or as a decentralized system for high-volume sites.

We still run SAP WM. Do we have to move to EWM?

Classic SAP WM is not the strategic path on S/4HANA, and neither is Stock Room Management. SAP is steering customers toward Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and Logistics Management (LGM), increasingly on public cloud ERP. You don’t have to move overnight, but it is wise to plan the transition deliberately, choosing EWM or LGM by volume and complexity, rather than waiting until a deadline forces a rushed migration.

EWM or Logistics Management (LGM): which do we need?

It comes down to warehouse volume and complexity. As a rule of thumb, lower-complexity sites (levels 1 to 3) fit Logistics Management (LGM), while higher-throughput, higher-complexity sites (levels 4 to 5) fit Extended Warehouse Management (EWM). LGM with lean PP integration runs on public cloud ERP and reaches general availability in Q4 2026; CONSILIO already has a way forward ahead of that. We help you place each site on that decision tree, often as part of a co-mingled supply-chain opportunity.

What is the difference between embedded and decentralized EWM?

Embedded EWM runs inside your S/4HANA system and suits most warehouses. Decentralized EWM runs as a separate system, typically chosen for very high-throughput or highly automated sites that need independence from the core ERP. CONSILIO helps you choose based on volume, automation, and risk.

How does warehouse management connect to the rest of our SAP landscape?

A well-designed warehouse is not an island. EWM integrates with production planning (PP/DS), availability checks (ATP/aATP), and finance, so inventory, production, and shipping stay in sync. CONSILIO’s strength is designing these processes together rather than in silos.

Where does AI fit into warehouse management?

Clean, connected warehouse data is the foundation for AI use cases such as demand forecasting, slotting optimization, and anomaly detection (for example, flagging unusual stock movements). Getting EWM and master data right is the practical first step toward those capabilities.

Does CONSILIO deliver this in the US?

Yes. CONSILIO supports US clients while drawing on the firm’s global SAP logistics experience, including the deep warehouse and EWM expertise built up in Europe.
